- SE Scotland coastal webcams -

Some great pictures of St Abbs as seen from the RNLI lifeboat station. This view can be updated every 2 seconds, if you have a good enough connection, so on a bad day you can see the waves rolling in, or on a good day you can see the dive boats going to and fro. Unlike some of the other webcams below, this keeps going through the night so you can see the lights reflecting in the harbour and sometimes the lighthouse beam glowing from beyond St Abbs Head.

The Seabird Centre at North Berwick has several webcams which can be remotely controlled by visitors to the centre. Often they are pointed at birds, rather than the sea, but at least if they show waves you can guess if the sea is too rough to dive. Bass Rock 1 , Bass Rock 2 , Fidra , North Berwick , Isle of May. They also have a webcam (not yet linked from the main website) at Dunbar Harbour, and several at Craigleith (try changing the number in the address to see pictures from Puffin burrows?). The web versions of the pictures can be updated every 30s.

St Vedas Hotel and Surfshop, near Coldingham Bay, have a webcam to show how good the surfing is. For a quick look try just the webcam , no ads and not auto-updated). St Abbs' Cathedral Rock is just off to the left of the picture.
Dunbar East Beach should be quite a good guide to any waves at Pebble Beach or the Old Pool further west. More details from http://www.webcamdunbar.sg5.co.uk/.

This webcam at St Andrews lets you control the zoom and pan to watch the Old Course or the sea off the West Sands and Castle Rock.

- Weather Forecasts -

BBC forecasts for next 24 hours for coastal waters , and inshore waters (ie a bit further out than the coast), and for today and next 4 days Dunbar , Eyemouth , Inveraray.

The coastal forecast is also on ITV telext page 158 (subpage0007 for Berwickshire).

uk.weather.com 10 day forecasts for Dunbar , Eyemouth , Inveraray

2 weeks forecast for Eyemouth and other places - how accurate? who knows?

- Tide Forecast -

up to 7 days tides for Dunbar and other ports, Easytide from ukho.gov.uk.

a year of tides for Eyemouth , from Wxtide32 4.6.

(NB compared with Easytide, Wxtide has differences varying from a few minutes to three-quarters of an hour for the same port on the same day)

- Wave Forecast -

Stormsurfing 6-hourly wave forecast with zoom and step commands - a big file for broadband only?. It shows a map of the North Atlantic and the North Sea, showing wave heights and directions and wind directions up to a week ahead.

3 day 12-hourly wave forecast This is a good bit smaller than above, as it gives less frequent intervals, for a shorter period, and shows less of the Atlantic (it does include the Med if you want to see predictions for Javea/Xabia etc.) Updated twice daily. This is from a US Navy website, but as with all our links this does not imply endorsement either way.

12 hour wave forecast. This is a single frame from the above prediction, so loads in one-sixth of the time. For different times change "012.gif" in the address bar to "024.gif" or "060.gif" or another multiple of 12.

5 day 6-hourly wave forecast - this is a really big file (for broadband only?). It shows a map of the North Atlantic and the North Sea, showing wave heights and directions up to 120 hours ahead. Usually updated daily?
