James Frost James joined our Club in 2006 after years of experience diving with BSAC and SSAC in Orkney. He later completed the crossover from BSAC to get an official ScotSAC qualification, and is going to be a ScotSAC Instructor too. * * * * * * *
Hugh Fraser Hugh started diving with PeebSAC in 1996, and after qualifying as an Instructor, went on to become our BDO for 3 years, before moving to Pentland Branch. After he recently moved back to Peeblesshire Branch, we re-appointed Hugh as our BDO in March 2007. Hugh says Scotland has some of the best diving in the world, and he should know as he has dived in several other countries including Malta, Canaries and the Red Sea. (This likeness of Shuggy, as he is sometimes known, is from his and Marion's wedding cake). * * * * * * *
Nicola Baillie Nicola started training with Peeblesshire SAC and ScotSAC in autumn 2002, and qualified as a Sports Diver in June 2004. Despite being what Eric calls one of the "younger members" of the club, Nicola likes to remind us that she is a diving granny, especially during some of the harder climbs eg after a dive at Dunbar old pool. The photo above shows her waving to grandson Findlay from her dive with the sharks at Deep Sea World. * * * * * * *
Aileen Anderson Ails started learning to dive with PeebSAC in 2005, and qualified as a Sports Diver just in time for our 2006 trip to the Red Sea. As Treasurer, Ails looks after our Branch accounts and collects membership fees (just to remind anyone who hasn't paid yet!) * * * * * * *
Eric Stevenson "I joined Peeblesshire Sub-Aqua Club at the tender age of 61 in March 1995 as a founder member. I had no experience of snorkeling or scuba diving when I went along for the "Try-a-Dive". I enjoyed the experience so much I decided to take it up. On my first open water dive, I was enthralled by what was to be seen underwater. A new world waiting to be explored. I have enjoyed diving ever since, whether it has been in the murky waters of St Mary's loch or in clear sea conditions. In 1999 I was on holiday in Australia where I managed several dives, also my 100th dive, on the Great Barrier Reef. It was wonderful with underwater visibilty of 40metres+. The varieties of coral, fish and underwater creatures had to be seen to be believed. I am now almost 74 years young and still enjoy diving as much as some of the, "younger members" of the club. I became Equipment Officer not long after the club was formed and spend part of my time looking after the club's equipment and filling bottles using the clubs compressor. I qualified as a Branch Instructor in 2000 and as Master Diver in May 2004." * * * * * * *

"My first experience of diving was with PADI on holiday in early 2002 which cost more for one morning than a whole year's membership of ScotSAC, even though I didn't get deeper than 3m. I then tried to get a free try-dive with BSAC but it was fully booked. Saving the best dive organisation for last, I got a try-dive with Peeblesshire Branch of ScotSAC in autumn 2002. This time it was a success and I began training to be a diver. With the help of the Club's Instructors, members and other trainees, I gained my qualification as a Sports Diver in April 2004. * * * * * * *
Alan Bartholomew Alan joined the Club as a trainee in 2006, and has been diving in the open water dive this year. * * * * * * *
Mark Sinclair Mark joined the Club in 1999 and began and finished his Sport Diver training with PeebSAC despite going away to another Branch for some years. Mark kindly agreed to be Branch Chair in 2005 after everyone promised to be good and not make it too difficult a job for him. He agreed to stay on in 2006, so it couldn't have been too bad. In 2007 he has stood down as Chair but stays on as ordinary (?) member. Seen here at St Catherine's, with Inveraray in the background. * * * * * * *
